Milna Crunch 30s Ad

One from late 2024, where I did the sound design and mixing. This job was a part of a chain of jobs where i filled in for my boss in his absence, building on what he’d done. Different from the usual workflow we’d subscribed to. Learnt a lot about directly interfacing with clients, being a face, and making myself available. I’ve always been weak in my soft, external, intuited skills. A big part of the job is tuning in to their frequency, figuring out what they really want.

Communication is always an act of translation, even more so in creative fields. Abstract thoughts and ideas don’t map cleanly into language and words, and it’s my job to figure out the forest from the trees.

Wuling: Worry Free

This is another one from that time. Difference is, I had less creative control on this one, so I had to adjust my approach. Fog of war, or rather, revisions that stray you further off the path. Sometimes, you just have to be a machine for minor revisions, though you have to keep in the back of your mind an image of the True Path, so all roads lead to Rome, or in my case, a clear direction for the audio. I don't mind it, and we managed to deliver something that's pretty good.

Alchemist: Home Garden

One of my favorites this year. After all, who can say no to a trip to Labuan Bajo? This was an ad-fiction thing I worked location on for Alchemist, an Indonesian perfume brand. We had a skeleton crew, and I went as the solo soundman. It was a challenge, but the good kind. The cast was a small one of two people, and we had enough downtime between scenes to do our setups.

Shoutout to Mas Bagoes and his camera crew — a rare bunch who understands the importance of location sound and accommodated my needs. Much love to the rest of the crew too, one of the best I’ve worked with. And of course to Ampersound Post, Mas Risanggalih and the team, for smoothing out my mistakes, and making the best out of my work.

p.s. sorry you had to do some ADR
